Contact us now about a Tanzania safari
If
you love Africa, Tanzania's Northern Circuit safari trip is renowned
for the finest wildlife viewing throughout Africa. The raw ruggedness
of the terrain the simplicity of life make combining culture and
wildlife in East Africa equal to none.
With some of the most impressive natural features of Africa, Tanzania
is one country that must be visited. It is home to the snow capped
Kilimanjaro (Kilima Njaro meaning shining mountain in Swahili) the
roof of Africa, reach heights in the region of 6000m. The Great
Rift Valley, which runs through the heart of Tanzania runs
all the way from Lebanon to central Mozambique. The Ngorongoro Crater,
which lies in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The Ngorongoro crater is 19km long, 16km wide and 2km deep and is an old imploded volcano that lies between Lake Manyara and the magnificent Serengeti. The Serengeti is an amazing wildlife sanctuary covering a massive 15,000 square Km’s. It is the second largest National Park in Tanzania, though at the same time the most famous. The Serengeti is a very diverse park with stunning scenery that contains over two million wildebeest, half a million gazelle and quarter of a million zebras, the Serengeti has the highest concentration of plains game in the world, as well as the obvious big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo)
Most
safaris, and for the more adventurous, mountain-climbing expeditions
begin in Arusha. One of the bigger cities in the north of Tanzania
and at the base of Mt. Meru. It is not far from the border with
Kenya, thus make it a good starting point for safari tours to Serengeti,
Ngorongoro, Manyara and Tarangire. The city is also an excellent
base for visiting the Arusha National Park. Here you can find a
wide range of habitats, such as lakes where many water birds can
be found, through to the highland mountain forests, where the imposing
summit of Mt. Meru generally peaks through the cloud layer.
Tanzania’s
abundant wildlife, along with the annual migration of millions of
animals across these northern reaches, make up an amazing and flourishing
eco-system that is now benefiting from conservation measures that
have been put in place.
A safari in the north of Tanzania is quite unlike a "fly-in" safari in the south, due to distances between locations.
We
would generally recommend you see northern Tanzania by private Land
Rover, which gives you the flexibility you need. With all our safaris,
you will have a highly expert private guide that are generally multilingual.
During this period you will either stay in camps or safari lodges.
After a few days in the bush we recommend letting Seeka Safari jet you out to Zanzibar or Pemba for a few more relaxing days in the most stunning and idyllic locations in the east coast of Africa.
Unguja (normally known as Zanzibar Island)
is the largest island in this archipelago, followed by Pemba Island.
The spice island is very relaxing and fascinating and a trip to
the Old Stone Town should not be missed, with its thousand year
history. The beaches are some of the best in the world with excellent
snorkeling and diving.
